How's My Chinese Coach? I've been thinking about picking it up for DS and just playing around with it.

@ genini1--I like it to play with, the good/bad part is that when you're doing the "multiple choice", for instance, some of the answers are in pinyin, and some are in simplified Chinese. And the characters are very small. So far, and I'm only on lesson 3, it's been fairly easy to figure out--only because either it's the only Chinese character choice and the other are obviously not correct, or one has a question mark or something. And I'm not totally familiar with the characters yet. It might be easier as I memorize more of the characters, but it is still fun.
And I like the part where you can write the characters and compare to the original, I just wish it went slower so you can see the order of the strokes easier. But is does help with learning the characters.
It also lets you practice your pronunciation, and record your voice. That's a nice tool.
I don't think it would work as your only teaching tool, but as a fun addition, I like it. It's easy to take along and pull out when you have to spend some time waiting, you can practice your writing, and it does tell you a little about China at the beginning of each lesson, which I find interesting.
I got mine for $15, and for what it is, I think it was worth the money I spent. I believe it's even cheaper now.
Hope this helps.

Over the last two weeks, I've dabbled in Spanish, Esperanto, French, German, Mandarin and Irish.
Esperanto--2.5 hours. I've done some lessons onine, and one lesson in the lessons I downloaded. Really enjoying this.
Irish--.5 hours (one Pimsleur lesson)
Mandarin--1 hour (playing on my DS with my Chinese Coach) Can't remember what level I am on now.
French--.25 hours, did a online lesson.
Spanish--3 hours. I started with Mi Vida Loca, did 3 lessons. Also did lessons on my DS, with My Spanish Coach. I'm a second grader now.
German--.5 hours. Did lesson one (newbie), in GermanPod101. I actually surprised myself, as I knew what all of the words/phrases meant when I heard them, although I didn't think I knew any German at all. I must have picked up some, living near and shopping in a German-American town in Michigan, where quite a few of the inhabitants still speak German in their family home. We'll see how the next lesson goes.
Still having a good time trying out different languages.

Update for Dec. 21-27.
My husband for Christmas got me Instant Immersion Mandarin and Italian, so I will be playing with those over the next few weeks (or months). What I've done for the last week.
Mandarin--1 hour playing on my new Instant Immersion Mandarin. I hadn't tried this program before, not sure how it's going to work for me, but willing to give it a try for a few weeks at least to see.
French--.5 hours. Started reading Agatha Christie's Nemesis in French. Love Agatha Christie, so thought this would be fun. Don't know all the words, but can get the gist of the sentence most of the time. And I already know the story, so that makes it a little easier.
Spanish--2 hours. Did lessons on my DS, with My Spanish Coach. Fourth grader now.
German--.5 hours. Did lesson 2(newbie), in GermanPod101.
Italian--1 hour. Just playing with my new Instant Immersion Italian.
Esperanto--None this week.
Irish--None.
Russian--Didn't even look at the book.
Only a total of 5 hours this week, which isn't bad. Didn't do anything on Dec 24th and 25th, had the entire family over for Christmas.
