Thanks for introducing me to Zulu rap! It's good to see that there are a lot of people with similar taste as me. I hope Sprachprofi will appreciate some Swahili Bongo Flava music. Swahili rap isn't something that is easily available over here in Japan. This thread is da bomb! But there is something missing: rap music is best in tonal languages. It adds a whole new dimension. Here are my fifty cents:
I'm not very familiar with the Mandarin rap scene (yet), but I've taken a liking to the following song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeTvz-LkgOQ (I'm at work and Chinese characters don't work properly on this computer.) The kings of Cantonese rap is surely LMF. Warning: lots of swears ahead (but if you don't understand Cantonese that won't matter). Being a longtime student of Wing Chun, the following is naturally my favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHnIqLSC7-0&feature=related Their quick and colloquial Cantonese is pretty hard to decipher somethimes, though, even with a transcript! --- Also, for great linguistic creativity in Swedish, make sure to check out the good old band Just D, from the nineties. Very good lyric writers. Sound is a bit (okay, a lot) Beastie Boys influenced. Vart tog den söta lilla flickan vägen Saker som får en att "Aah" EDIT: More tips on Mando and Canto rap would be appreciated! EDIT 2: Music in Spanish is some of the best in the world. I am a huge underground rap fan so my taste varies, however,

Since nobody answered my request for more Mando and Canto rap, I'll answer myself. I found another good
Cantonese rap group, called 農夫. I like them both because of their sweet rhythms and because of their not feeling like they need to wear baggy pants and bling to be rappers. Except for the 冧 character in the video below. 農夫 - 冧冧everyone There are many more good 農夫 songs, but just click your way on YouTube and you'll find them. I'll also add another 大懶堂/LMF song. Not because it's particularly good (thought I like it), but because it's … particular. It shows you what a tonal language can do to rap and it's surely a test of skill for any Canto learner. If you can keep up with this karaoke version, I take off my hat to you. 黃貴中/大懶堂 - 香港一定得 (If you're wondering about all the symbols and letters in the lyrics, they're characters too vulgar to write down. @Ari: Sorry for the late response. I would have replied sooner but I my old computer didn't display Chinese characters properly, but I have a new computer now and it displays Chinese characters so I hope these are helpful.
In Cantonese T.F.P. AF1 Turn It UP/焚機 I'm not sure if this next one is in Cantonese or Mandarin but I think he's from Hong Kong so I hope it's Cantonese KZ 特區 I think this girl is rapping in Mandarin (supposedly Wuhan dialect, but I wouldn't really know) 段思思/duàn sī sī 信了你的邪/xìn le nǐ de xié . The most ideal language for rap is Spanish as far as I'm concerned,Spanish sound totally badass especially when spoken with a Mexican accent
