Okay, it has been a while since I've updated my log here....
I've switched from isiXhosa to isiZulu, mostly because of better availability of materials and media. Also, my social circles have shifted somewhat in the last few years. Luckily the overlap in grammar is to the extend that I don't ha e to relearn more than a tenth to get to what my level was isiXhosa; after half a year of studying on and off I've gotten better at isiZulu than I was at isiXhosa. The past seven days I've been on a Portuguese streak. I've reached level 6 on duolingo in these days, with 577 xp. I love duolingo, it is almost like a computer game and I'm always eager to level up. Next to this I'm busy listening to Michael Thomas Portuguese, mostly as I find to help with practicing formulation of sentences and listening. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I've noticed the flaw of relying on duolingo and Michael Thomas, my OCD-ish mind is crying out for an
overview of the logic (or absence thereof). While both MT and duolingo are great tools, I decided to add a more traditional book to the mix: Colloquial Portuguese, so I can see the conjugation in tables on paper... 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I've finished lesson 6 of prepositions on duolingo, portuguese that is. Somehow prepositions are the first
wall I hit in learning any language, even when learning Esperanto it took me way longer than mastering any other aspect of the language. So in order to overcome this I'm busy with a grammar book (Portuguese essential grammar) in order to make sense of it.... 1 person has voted this message useful |
