I was going to add the following link to the list but I can seem to find the "edit" option this morning. I wonder if there is a problem or modification on the site... I'll move this up to the list when I have the option.

This site has practice tests (pdf's) for rating your Spanish. I don't know how good the quality is from a native-speaker's perspective, but to me, a learner, I like this and it makes me feel like I have gotten somewhere to be able to "rate" my level. (When will I stop feeling like a beginner???)

Tibbles, I also have found that R-world always seems empty. I am guessing because it is not pushed or advertised much, there aren't many people on there. I also had to get a phone call to give me access. I am hoping that more users will make the site more useful. It certainly has potential, IMHO.

Note: I wish I could edit my posts to compile all this in the beginning of the thread--the intent that I had in the first place!!!!!

I have lately been watching How-to videos on various topics on Youtube--these have been really great for verb usage in a practical context. Cooking and how-to-drive are my favorites. Lots of everyday vocabulary that I will actually have a use for. Try it, folks!

Hands down the BEST Spanish-learning podcast that Scotland has to offer. Easy to follow, great teacher, great method, and FUN! You'll love it!

Here is a downloadable program that a friend recommended and I can't give it high enough praise.

http://download.cnet.com/RadioSure/3000-2168_4-10911517.html

This is called RADIOSURE and it allows for both streaming listening, and, more importantly, recording of the audio. You can then dump your recorded files onto the MP3 player to listen to at work (if your company blocks all radio, like mine, heavy sigh) or edit the recordings or whatever. This might be one of the most useful input tools I have found. Woohoo!

The program is tiny and doesn't appear to slow my PC down at all.

I am focusing on stations in my target country to get more used to that accent. Before this program, I only had a couple of stations and YouTube videos to use. This is really awesome.

Any other practical suggestions/sites/ideas that you have tried and that worked for you? Please continue to share. :)

I have used this program for ages and it's really good but the problem is that all stations are either specified in news or music which narrows down your vocabulary to these fields.
I wish there is a Spanish radio station that airs series and drama and stuff just like BBC :(

Note to moderators: I STILL wish that I could edit my posts to compile all this in the original post as was the entire purpose of this thread in the first place!!!! Please stop restricting editing.

Here is another site that is outstanding!!!!!
The video can be watched and the text read along with--the data is in smaller bites making it easier to "chew". Note: This is European so all the dialects consist of those from that area.

Here is one. It's a bunch of links to all things Spanish, including culture. Jim Becker, the site's webmaster, is a professor emeritus from the University of Northern Iowa, and has websites for 13 other languages.

One of the links I found on that site:

The University of Texas sites appear to have been rearranged a bit.

Here are common topics with tons of videos:

Here are vids that related specifically to business situations, but are useful anyway for probably everybody:

Here are some fill-in-the-blank online grammar exercises.

:)

(I still wish I could edit my posts. Sigh. But, of course, I wouldn't expect anybody to make this site MORE useful, now would I?)
