Without wishing to sound like a pratt, SOAS is an elite institution. They have an awesome reputation, ask a lot from students, are elitist expect good attendance and expect students to conform.

This is NOT WHAT YOU WANT FROM A UNIVERSITY. I went to a former Poly and I found the not very rigorous curriculum allowed me to learn more in my spare time and gather contacts whilst I was there. OK you may argue that an elite institution's degree may get you a 'better' job but in my opinion jobs are more about networking than qualifications...

I am just saying: be questioning of elite institutions...
