This is not a thread about IQ. Let's get back on track, please.

Well, the thread is if Japanese is rediculously hard.

Somebody argued that it's harder for non-northeast Asians due to genetics.

This does still relate to the original topic, especially so since the originator may (falsely) believe that Japanese will be ridiculously hard especially for him because he is (presumable) not northeast Asian.

Anyways, I'll give my position on this and then drop it. Genetic makeup does not affect one's ability to learn Japanese and for this reason should not be considered in assessing potential learning difficulty. It is still a relatively hard language, but not ridiculously so when compared to Romance/Germanic. It may take up to twice as much study time as a Romance/Germanic to reach an equal level, but it's still not ridiuclously hard.

It's closer to 3 or 4 times. The American Army determined that to reach the level it takes 24 weeks to reach
in French or Spanish, a Japanese learner will need 88 weeks with the second half spent in the country.

easier with their perfect math minds.

Can we dumb down this thread any more?

one I got 101, in another I got 124 and in another I got
136. Many factors can affect what scores one can get in an IQ test and by doing certain exercises people are able to boost their IQ scores by 10 points or more.

I don’t have time and patience to reply to every question here. We should discuss in another forum. First you are not the person to decide on the REPRESENTATIVENESS of the test you take. The people NEVER EVER managed to boost their IQ more than 10 points. The most EXPENSIVE and EFFICIENT enrichment program was Abecedarian Project which proved that the gained scores faded to less than 5 points when the children were 15 years old http://www.arthurhu.com/index/aintell.htm). I don’t want to talk more about this subject here because it is not the place. I just want to say that every culture (not just language) has its clues on its genetic basis (IQ types, creativity and personal traits). More heterogeneous societies are more multicultural.

Language ability was discussed in this forum. One study (http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=1528876) found the correlation between grammar ability and vocabulary skills to be 61 % explaining 37 % of the variation (0.61X0.61=0.37). While learning the language in the beginning one really needs grammar ability but later I believe it is rather related with the verbal skills.
