School is so busy it's hard to find time... mainly focusing on reading and listening now. My mom learned English by reading a lot so I'm expecting this will help me a lot with learning Spanish, but it's hard to find a really interesting book that I'm sucked into right away. I find bilingual texts easier, for anyone who may be curious.
2 months, 8 days I think.

Had an exam in Spanish class today... Perfect score with ease! Not surprising for a Spanish 1 class but still something
My deadline's getting closer!

Had an interesting experience. A dream of mine was in Spanish! This is the first time as all of my other
dreams have been in either English or Norwegian!
Also, there's a nice song I found that I really like in Spanish.
It's called "Una Palabra"
I think this'll motivate me a bit with the deadline coming up. I think the biggest thing I need to work on now
is passive understanding. It's not bad, but it could always get better!

First month is gone! I am improving, luckily, so I'm satisfied with my progress so far.
The bilingual texts didn't work on my computer for some reason! the file type is wrong.
Anyway, I'm mostly listening/watching TV/reading now, and I find that my understanding is going up in MASSIVE leaps.

Was talking with my siblings' nanny yesterday, no problems whatsoever.
I'm excited but I want to finish strong so I'm going to continue listening to the "cuentos a la luz de la luna" podcast.
The bilingual texts didn't work on my computer for some reason! It was the file extension I think.
I think I'll buy some at the book store tomorrow though.

I've decided now that there aren't many major communication structures I lack anymore, mostly specific words... So what I'm doing is picking a weekly topic and learning all the specific vocabulary that's related, for example, yesterday I learned:
La calabaza (pumpkin)
El ajo (garlick)
El apio (celery)
El rábano (radish)
El pepino (cucumber)
The theme being food and kitchen. My goal here is to narrow in on the specifics, bcause it's there my comprehension sometimes falls flat. Even if those words aren't used everyday, it can't hurt.
Also, I've made an effort to only learn about five words a day because they stick to my memory better that way
any thoughts on this method?

It seems as good a method as any. I religiously write down new vocabulary I see as I read. Some sticks and some doesn't. Some things like food it really makes sense to consciously sit down and make your own list of words instead of waiting for it to come up in real life. I can't say as I've found a really good method for learning vocabulary - I keep hoping to get a good idea or trick from reading other people's logs. I was happy I recognized ajo on your list.
