I seem to be going through one of those rare times when I'm able to really focus. I have to say it's probably because of the TAC frenzy that I've been in for the past few days. So in order to take advantage of me being "in the zone", I've developed a learning plan which I'll carry on into Jan.

(This is current plan but it will probably get tweaked or modified a little.)

FRENCH:

Problem analysis --
>can read junior novels and newspapers but I don't know French well enough to speak or write it without translation help.
Solution --
>Use Assimil to train active skills. Play and repeat over and over.
>Keep track of hours and minutes.
>When I can't play audio, read Assimil or anything else out loud
>Optimal: weather conditions permitting, go out into the forest and shadow one hour* every morning.
>In case of ice on the ground, walk through the house. (This is not nearly as effective but better than nothing.)

*edit: the walk is 1 hour, actual time working with the book is 40 minutes. So far, the weather is cooperating :)
**edit2: weather is no longer cooperating. All the German words used for the mixture of "snow + rain" can be applied here. Yuck. I have to go with a 2nd plan..

JAPANESE:

Problem analysis --
>Large amount of semi-recognizable kanji relative to the small number of kanji I can actually use
>Can't write without translation help.
Solution --
> Use "Let's shadow Japanese"
> Fly through basics. Listen while doing housework and repeat, repeat...
> Search "semi-recognizable" Kanji in Tatoeba and input an example sentence into Anki.
> Zusatzaufgabe (Bonus) -- add the Turkish and French translations in with the Japanese entries. Example, 魚 は 水中 に 住む 。Balıklar suda yaşar. Les poissons vivent dans l'eau.

TURKISH:

>Keep up with 700 sentences in Anki.
>Pick out pieces of words that are recognizable.

GERMAN:

Problem analysis --
> For advanced writing, Themaverfehlung. Kleine grammatikalischen Fehler müssen ausgesiebt werden.
> Too often I focus on others' learning (students) and not my own.
Solution --
>Make a plan to squeeze in some advanced grammar work (when??)
> go through at least one newspaper article per week with a Farbmarker (highlight/mark passages)
