This sounds so cool! I just signed up (and followed both of you, doviende and Sprachprofi). I am absurdly excited about this – it sounds like exactly what I need to motivate myself to get reading.

@Sprachprofi: thanks for all the great tips! I am looking at some of the easy-reading sites and also ordering the
Anna's Summer book. I went ahead and signed up even though I am not sure I'm at the 800 character level. I have
probably learned that many characters but I keep forgetting them! But that's why I think this challenge will be good
for me. It's the words and characters I encounter often that I remember so . . . it'll be good to set myself up for
multiple encounters!

I have some kids' books that I'm going to read--they're graded readers so shouldn't have too many odd "bow-wow"
type words in them. I think I'll count them the same as mangas, i.e. 5 pages = one "real" page. The amount of text
on a page is roughly the same as mangas I've seen.

@Jinx: glad you're joining in too. I enjoy reading your log.

It would be great to join in, but unfortunately I'm still in the middle of the Dutch 6WC...

Could you perhaps combine the two, focusing your reading during April on Dutch?

That hadn't even occurred to me, because I'm not really at the book stage, and I was hoping that any reading I did would be accompanied by audio. But funnily enough, I did read a Dutch children`s book this morning (it was 45 pages, but had a fairly low word density.) Maybe it's a sign.

It definitely is a sign. Besides, you could start with parallel texts. Come join us!

So the good news is, I read 5 pages today that I wouldn't have read otherwise, and it was really great to do. The bad
news is, I don't think it is registering on the site. Here's what I tweeted:

Can any of you experienced twitterites tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Happy reading to all.
