Despite its Catalan-sounding name, I wonder if Pons is actually a German publisher: http://www.pons.de/. I thought
it was a Catalan company until I saw lots of stuff from them on amazon.de a few months ago. Pons means bridge in
Latin.

Ah... you're right. The central page pons.eu says " Copyright © 2001-2011 by Pons GmbH, Stuttgart. "

My mistake.

You could also look at classes. Your profile says you are a student and if you're at University then you should check
the language department. Many many language departments offer beginner and advanced Catalan classes to
people studying Spanish (I'm sitting in on Catalan classes this year even though I'm not a language student).

You may also want to try language tandems etc.

Horses for courses I guess. I think Catalan pronunciation sounds lovely. Difficult to
actually learn to get right, but very pretty indeed to listen to.

I never quite understood why some have such distaste for Catalan. There's more than one
variety of pronunciation, so if you dislike the sounds of Central Catalan, there's
always Balearic Catalan, or valencià with its Spanish-style vowel system. I like all
varieties, including those with the standard vowel reduction system, and find it to be
softer and suaver than many varieties of Peninsular Spanish. It all just goes to show
how subjective appraisal of languages is.

There are hundreds of compelling reasons to embark upon obtaining Catalan, the key to an
incredible culture and history. I hope that the materials situation does not put folk
off. Ànim i bona sort!
