Although I have nothing useful to contribute, this is an interesting thread. I used to live in Azerbaijan between the ages of 8-13. Azeri was the most prevalent language, although Russian was still used by many. In the north of the country, Lezghin was also spoken and there was even a language a mountainous village called Xinaliq which had its own unique language.

I was wondering what kinds of materials everyone was using to study these languages? I don't think Teach Yourself or Assimil has a guide for learning Abkhaz, so I am really curious to see what kinds of materials are being utilized.

Mostly textbooks in Russian. In the case of Abkhaz, there is a textbook in English by George Hewitt but no audio. The most well-known textbook in Russian has audio and it used to be online in the form of a website in Russian and another one in English and Turkish, but not anymore.
