I would also recommend amazon.com/amazon.co.uk and maybe the .fr site.
The shipping cost from at least the uk site is reasonable (esp if you are buying
multiple books).

Also keep an eye out for used/new books from secondhand resellers on amazon.co.uk.
Sometimes their prices are very low (especially for older editions). And for resellers
shipping is usually 750 INR.

And naturally, also check amazon.in, flipkart.

Thank you so much. I will look forward to those. I will have to save money. Anyway, the
shipping is still large. But what could we do?

It has been a year since my last serious post here.
Sure, I have watched videos. I even followed the news online. And listened to podcasts.
But alas, I have not done any serious studying.
Lately, I have been too occupied with Arabic.
Yesterday, I felt guilty about neglecting French, so I redid Unit 4 of FSI. I kept mangling the dialogues at first, but soon it all started coming back to me.
It felt strange, being able to remember the dialogues without even having to look at the text.
I could continue with FSI French.
Or, I could complete Grammaire Progressive (Debutant) because I have already done half of that book.
Maybe I could finish Grammaire Progressive and then focus on FSI.
Whatever I do, I still have to keep watching FIA. :)

Hey Napoleon! I didn't even realize you had a French log! I am glad you are working on it again. I am sorry that I didn't get my Spanish up to a higher
level before I started Arabic, but I am going to keep plugging away at both! So we'll both be working on two! :-) If I ever get my Spanish to a decent
level, I hope to work on French next and see if I can resurrect my high school and college French. I never got to a very high level before, though, so I'll
have to go further than just resurrecting it. Happy Studying! :-)

Hey nancy! I'm sorry for the late reply. :-)

Yesterday, I listened to a french podcast that discussed the situation in Russia and Ukraine while I was practising Arabic handwriting. :-)

I was wondering how I learned English. I have been studying it since I was four and I think I've reached a reasonable level. :-) (A recent test at the British Council placed me at C2.)
Something must have worked. I have always loved watching movies and reading books.
I need to do the same thing to improve my French.
For now, I 'm going to start with films and TV. Books too. Just not as much. :-)

I was watching David Suchet's Poirot and although I was able to get the gist of what was happening, my head started feeling fuzzy after 6 minutes. :-)
Anyone have any ideas?

The TV Shows I am going to watch this summer:
Jo (Jean Reno)
A la maison blanche (The West Wing)
Poirot (David Suchet)
Tintin

Maybe later, I'll add House (Hugh Laurie) to my list.

Update:
Using subtitles
The French are notorious for their disregard of subtitles. French subs are hard to come by, even for English films dubbed into french. These may even have excellent English subs. But, french sous-titres are unavailable for most films and TV shows.
I could just use English subs but I don't want English to interfere with French.
Besides, Jo is the only show that I'm watching for the first time. I've already watched the others in English, at least once. I know the stories even if I don't remember all the details.
I would love to use french subs. But I don't have them.
I could download an English subtitle and use google translate to turn it into french. But, to do it for every episode would mean far too much work. :)
For now, I'm going to wing it without subs. If it gets too difficult, well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

We're staying with relatives. It is 5 am now and I can't sleep. I want to leap out of bed. Pace the room and do FSI. But I can't. It would be too weird. :)
We'll start for home later today. Around 12 noon-ish. :)
