I agree with Volte. For me it is not either/or. To some extent it depends on at what level I am in a language. At a beginner level, I certainly prefer hardcopy, as I need to flick back and forth, e.g. go to word lists at the end of the book, check grammar points in earlier lessons etc. However, in languages where I am at a more advanced level, I think it is great to use e.g. Kindle to read texts - especially as it is very easy to look up a word in the electronic dictionary built into the e-reader simply by pointing at the word. I have found a few useful internet sites where I can do exercises and check my level in different languages.
On the other hand, when it comes to learning vocabulary, I am very old-fashioned and prefer handritten lists on paper, rather than flashcard programmes etc.
