The end of the year is approaching, but I'm not slowing up just yet.
French: Half way through Engrenages. The words are starting to become more clear. I miss more than I should because I always pay more attention to the subs. There are a lot of expressions that fly way past me however. Picking out individual words by ear isn't as big of a problem, but yeah expressions & idioms shoot right past me. I'm half way through The Keeper of Lost Causes which is part of a Scandinavian crime series by Jussi Adler Olsen. This novel is extremely addicting with lots of expressions and idioms, & a lot of words that come up as "familiar/very familiar", which is good. I'm also half way through Sputnik Sweetheart by Haruki Murakami which, while lacking in familiar vocab, has a lot of literary & descriptive vocab. Between both authors, the amount of vocab and idioms you get is awesome. Spanish: Finished the second book by Stieg Larrson. It started to become more of a drag towards the end, but I hear the 3rd one is great. Almost done with Profugos. Apparently the letter "s" is nonexistent in Chile. It's definitely not on the same level as Engrenages, but it's still fun. The four main characters are enjoyable. I'm about 1/3 through Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. I'm still coming up on a few unknown vocab every page, but I supposed by my next Murakami book in Spanish, that won't be a problem. I decided to read the 2nd & 4th novels of the Department V series by Jussi Adler Olsen in Spanish, so that should probably see me to a solid C1 or something. I don't know.
