I know of one You Tube polyglot who says that he has Aspergers, but I would also name him only by PM.

If you want to keep a secret, the internet is the place to do it.

He said it in his videos, therefore I know it.

If he makes it public himself, what's the point in keeping it a secret here?

I don't know who it is either; but if it's the guy I think then he's a guy I really
admire. His advice is some of the most useful out there (he's one of the two or three
polyglots whose advice has helped me most) and I imagine Fasulye feels the same. Too
many people (I strongly suspect not regulars on here, but in the wider internet and
world in general) attach a massive stigma to people with this kind of condition.
Presumably Fasulye thinks there is a massive difference between him bravely mentioning
it in one of his videos (where he is free to change his mind and remove the video and
where it will only be seen by the people he's trying to help- our community of language
learners) and her writing it in a public forum where it can be found by anyone in the
wider public through google search (including people who may know him and who he
doesn't wish to inform).
If that's her thinking, I agree totally.

Friends, this thread has sunk into the depths of a gossip column!
I believe it is wrong to discuss who has Aspergers behind their backs! This is for an individual to state for himself if he wishes and not to be speculated in such a manner on threads or as furtive PMs.
A medical diagnosis can explain our suffering and our difficulties, it does not define us.
A person with Aspergers can be drawn to the learning of languages, yes, I believe this to be true. But so can others who do not have this syndrome. It is in our method where we may differ: as a highly sociable person I like to use my languages with people. I expect a person who relates to the traits of autism would not choose this for himself.
