While it might be easier to talk about Latin than Ancient Greek, I find Ancient Greek
easier to read in practice, namely because Latin syntax and ambiguous case markings
make reading many authentic texts challenging at an intermediate level. There are,
though, plenty who disagree.
I was in a similar position, by the way. Had a slot to fill (1st year uni for me),
nothing in particular to take, so I signed up for Ancient Greek because it happened to
be available. After about a two weeks of class, I went and declared my major as
classics and never regretted it. It's what made me really fall in love with languages.
I still find Greek literature pleasant to read for fun with classes years behind me,
but I can't say the same for Latin.
Like others have said though, learn the language of the stuff you're most interested in
reading. It's easier to learn something you have a reason to learn.

Wow. I really appreciate the in depth responses. I think I'll go for Greek after considering what everyone has had to say. You guys are the best.
