P.S: You've made me look at the lingq website again, out of curiousity. Why do people and companies do something like what I've just seen? Why do they make their site automatically guess the native language of the reader and serve them a bad translation of the website and you have to scroll looong way down to switch to English? Really, their Czech translation is nothing to be proud of. Either they should decide "Yes, we want as many czech customers as possible", and hire someone to transform the eyesore into a good quality language mutation, or they should go with "we aren't against czech customers who know an intermediary language but that market isn't big enough", and they shouldn't make a horrible translation just to have +1 base language.

Why do they even assume that language learners want to use site through their native language?

To each, their own. I've lost of count of the threads where members can't find their way through the system at all, let alone in a language they do understand (however, that may be an example of how eager students learn regardless of the interface language, and the ones who need to be spoonfed won't understand even the simplest guide).

As Cavesa says, the translated interface is often incomplete - I know, I've done my share of Swedish but ended up losing my patience when there were too many text strings with only one word (as if there was a one-to-one translation for any given word...).
