Terrific idea! I need to do more reading in German and Chinese, so I must look up some
more kids' stuff!

I've read 'Anne of Green Gables' in Chinese so far and I have 3 volumes of 'Paddington
Bear' in German. I should get cracking! Thanks so much for the reminder, Gemuse!

I read Enid Blyton as a kid, just discovered these stories have been translated and
continued in German and French.

Anyone read these stories? For translated versions, how do the English texts serve as
parallel texts?

What is the language level required for reading these books?

What is interesting about this link is that it actually lists original books in French and German based on the Famous Five series ("continuation" books), rather than lists of translations of the Famous Five series. That means that the books do not have English versions, so they couldn't be used as parallel texts. But the reviewer does seem to prefer the Volier French series to the original, because they are faster paced and the characters travel internationally. They have been criticised for being quite different from the spirit of the originals. But since I have never read any of the originals, I am very tempted to buy a few of these for the Super Challenge.
