In colloquial Indonesian many people pronounce final o's as u: Manado [ma'nadu] (or [məˈnadu]).

'Great deal of pressure'? As far as I know, people from various countries tend to underestimate their own language. Thus, they rarely bother with their formal language. That's why there are many English speakers whose grammar are full of mistakes.
