Hi everyone!
Our Sprachprofi is very busy with very important projects, so I contacted her and she kindly give me the permission to open this thread for the oncoming November 6 Week Challenge. Ready? Go! -- Have you picked your language yet? The bot is ready to take your registrations. For those who are new to the forum: the 6 Week Challenge is a challenge to upgrade your language skills in one language from beginner to something more worthwhile, and to see if you can find more time to study languages when competing with other participants in a global highscore. 6 Week Challenges start on February 1st, May 1st, August 1st and November 1st every year, so there is a rough 6 weeks on / 6 weeks off pattern. Note that you can only do the 6 Week Challenge with a language that you're a beginner or lower-intermediate at most. This allows for a more just comparison between participants. Well, signed up again for Chinese. I came in 12th it appears (mostly because I stopped sending update thinking it was over!) and hope to do better this time. With the Super Challenge, 6WC, and NanoWriMo the month of November will be a complete write off for me I figure.

I'm in for German!
Due to various things going on in my English-speaking life at the moment, I don't have a chance of getting close to the top of the leaderboard. However, to keep myself motivated, I will aim to log at least 30 hours of German over the 6 week period. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

On my side I'm in for Spanish.

Registered for Nahuatl, for which I've barely scratched A1. Also, the challenge's start and end happen to be perfectly timed for my last language mission this year, so I guess it's good timing and a good chance, all in one!

Are you sure you can do that, registering with Spanish when you're beginner in just one aspect of the language? I'm A1 in the Spanish subjunctive, but advanced in almost everything else, and I can still register with Spanish? 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

Well, of course if you are advanced you should not register. But in my case it's wrong to say that I'm beginner in just one aspect of the language. I understand Spanish not because I studied it a lot but just because I'm Italian. Therefore I can follow conversations about abstract topics with advanced vocabulary but I don't have any idea about how to ask the time or conjugate the simplest of the verbs at the first singular person of the present tense, so I feel beginner enough :D 3 persons have voted this message useful | ||||||

OK. Too bad! Spanish is the only language I can drown myself in for hours and not feel sick... Btw, an FAQ: Starts 1st November 00:01 your local time Ends 12th December 23:59 your local time It ends 12th December 23:59 your local time regardless of when you started.
