Have any of you ever seen the video of a (quite young) Peruvian polyglot on youtube.com?
The address is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYhsmgEv-yo and there is a second part of it as well.
It's a young guy from Peru who speaks 12 languages fluently. I think he does quite well and it's very nice to see how much pleasure he takes in speaking and learning these languages.
I was very surprised nobody's mentioned this video before, apparently.
Enjoy!

Very promising, but I wasn't very impressed. I can't judge all of the languages, but in French, German, Italian, Swedish he only seems to have rather basic conversational skills, and he's not very fluent (maybe his Italian is a bit better than the others). However, he uses extremely well the little he knows and isn't afraid of making mistakes. I mean, my Swedish is probably better than his, but I'd hesitate much more to use it.

Yeah, I agree.

I mean, he is only 18, which made me most impressed. And his comfort with using the languages was evident and that impressed me, too.

But yes, he was still learning phrases like "Ta gueule" in French and rather basic German sentences. It's obvious that his best languages are the ones closest to Spanish linguistically. That's probably the way it is for most of us!

My question is, where does he find the money for all these tutors! I'm assuming some of those people were his tutors. Man, what I would give for that sort of access!

So, I'm still impressed, but not without qualification. ;-)
