Willkommen bei dem Team Rätsel!

There's a language that is considered to be dry and complex by some, boring and terrifying by other some. Do you remember how Mark Twain was terrified by that sentence:
Wenn er aber auf der Strasse der in Sammt und Seide gehüllten jetzt sehr ungenirt nach der neusten Mode gekleideten Regierungsräthin begegnet.
Or how he hilariously tried to incorporate German long words in English:
In the daybeforeyesterdayshortlyaftereleveno'clock Night, the inthistownstandingtavern called `The Wagoner' was downburnt. When the fire to the onthedownburninghouseresting Stork's Nest reached, flew the parent Storks away.
But when the bytheraging, firesurrounded Nest itself caught Fire, straightway plunged the quickreturning Mother-stork into the Flames and died, her Wings over her young ones outspread
.
(looks awesome, by the way)

But we are going to learn this language, no matter what others think. We may have different reasons, methods and priorities, but this is only going to help.

We're going to make sure that we won't be is this situation because of lack of knowledge:

Perhaps this guy below is right:

but is this enough to stop us? Nein!

The Hammer seems pretty fitting.

This is going to be the year that I finally crack down on this language, so for me "The Hammer" would be highly symbolic.

Either way, the name doesn't matter to me much. I hope to see all of your progressions throughout the year.

I'm not fond of "Der Hammer" because it doesn't sound any different from "The hammer" (except for articles, of
course). To me it's way more English than German, and German has a lot of awesome and unique words.

Thanks for creating the team page, captain! ;) Really looking forward to a productive and
fun year!

As for the name, I quite like Rätsel. It certainly fits in with my initial impression of
German as a puzzle that needed to be solved!

Yay. The German Team thread is up and running. :)

Hello team mates. I'm looking forward to following everyone's progress next year. :)

Same here. It just seems too English to me.

This was my impression too. Solving the puzzle and getting to grips with the mysteries
of a language are a big part of what motivates me to study them. :)
