I mainly have the old Without Toil courses.

At the top come French and German and Spanish.

Then follow Polish, Italian, Dutch (both Without Toil and With Ease).

Last would come Chinese, Arabic and Russian.

I have Hebrew but haven't done enough to give an opinion.

I also possess Portuguese (European and Brazilian) Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Hungarian and Czech) but they are all on standby. I can't give an opinion.

I feel my opinion and ranking are very subjective. I found Dutch to be very helpful - I was mixing it with German until I got used to using and listening to Assimil. So, I would possibly put Polish, Italian and Dutch up with my favourites and just say I found them all interesting, entertaining and useful but I had more trouble with Chinese, Russian and Arabic.

I found the dialogs in the Spanish With Ease course a bit on the boring side, but the course was still very useful and I would definitely recommend it to others learning Spanish.

I've seen several people note that the Korean course (only available with French as the base language, last I checked) is one of the worse ones, though I can't really recall seeing anyone give much detail as to why they felt this was the case.

That's interesting, I could have sworn I read in one of Prof. Arguelles's posts that Serbo-Croate sans peine was second only to Catalan sans peine, according to him.

Uggghhh. Yeah, for me, it just wasn't as engaging or entertaining as the other Assimil courses I have done. The speakers were really dry ( maybe it's just how the language itself sounds ) and it just wasn't "fun" to get through - it was much more of a chore than the other Assimil courses. That's just my opinion though!

As a side note: The Arabic I did was the "new" one which is only in French. The "Arabic with Ease" version is just bloody awful!!

Don't forget to take the survey!!!!

I was able to take the survey at this page before, but after I voted I was redirected
(without being shown the results) to a page inviting me to create an account, and now I'm
sent to that page whenever I visit this link. Do you know where those of us who have
voted can see the results?
