I've now been six weeks without Turkish.
The break was good; I was juggling too many languages and had stalled in every one of
them. That, and I don't think I had fully consolidated and internalized the basics,
and so the more moderate to advanced parts of my courses (Assimil and FSI) became too
frustrating.
And so I'm glad to report that there are now three free courses that are online or
will be soon! I'm hoping to restart in 2015, and do a couple more reviews of the
basics.
DuoLingo - The course is 89% incubated,
and they've moved up the release date to January 1, 2015.
Language Transfer -
Introduction to Turkish is due to be released Winter 2014/2015
and finally: Headstart 2 is an American
military site (Defense Language Institute) that contains ten modules of "the basics,"
ten modules that are "mission specific," and 100 pdfs with written exercises.
I should just make this last one a general post. Chung linked to it over at the Turkic
Challenge, and I've only skimmed through it. The basic set-up is ok, but they have
modules for a lot of languages with limited English language resources. I'm psyched to
explore it more.
