Hier ist mein Übersetzungsversuch. Das Video ist hier.
Geist des Lebens, Atem Gottes
Text: Eugen Eckert
Musik: Andreas Neuwirth
(erste Strophe, nicht im Video)
Geist des Lebens, Atem Gottes,
Spirit of life, breath of God,
zieh nun bei uns ein.
come to us now.
Öffne Herzen, öffne Türen,
Open hearts, open doors,
frischer Wind, komm, lass uns spüren:
come, breath of life, let us feel:
du bist sprungbereit
you are ready
für die neue Zeit.
for the new era.
(Video beginnt hier)
(Refrain)
Und wir werden Brücken schlagen,
And we will build bridges,
Brücken, die uns tragen,
bridges that will carry us,
die von Mensch zum Menschen tragen,
that will carry us to each other,
Brücken, die uns tragen.
bridges that will carry us.
Brücken, die uns tragen.
bridges that will carry us.
Brücken, die uns tragen.
bridges that will carry us.
(kurzes Saxofon Solo)
(zweite Strophe)
Geist des Lebens, Atem Gottes,
Spirit of life, breath of God,
wohne unter uns.
abide with us.
Gib uns Augen, die neu sehen,
Give us eyes to see anew,
Worte, dass wir uns verstehen,
words, that we might understand each other,
mach uns sprungbereit
make us ready
für die neue Zeit.
for the new era.
(Refrain)
(längeres Saxofon Solo)
(dritte Strophe)
Geist des Lebens, Atem Gottes,
Spirit of life, breath of God,
bleibe unter uns,
stay with us,
dass wir aufstehen, wo wir fallen,
that we might get up when we fall,
dir und uns zum Wohlgefallen
with you we are full of joy
bleiben sprungbereit
for we are ready
für die neue Zeit.
for the new era.
(Refrain)
(Refrain wiederholen)

Sehr gut gemacht.

come to us now.
Wohl ein Bißchen mehr als nur sich bewegen: move into our place/ come live with us

Du hast Recht. Wahrscheinlich wäre "come dwell with us now" richtiger gewesen.

Well, "zieh bei uns ein" can also mean "enter our place" or even "march in".
I don't think it means "move in with us" here. "Come dwell/stay with us" might be a good translation though.

My TAC also started out as a completely bungled cockup this year, so now it's just my "Experiment" :). At one point, I wondered if the thing being "totally annihilated" was my sanity...so maybe I'm not the best person to weigh in on this, but ...
Truly, there's no need at all to beat yourself up, it could just be time for a course correction or possibly time to embrace what you're doing because it's what you want to do and there's nothing wrong with that. It's great to enjoy whatever material you enjoy and no need to apologize or feel guilty. In my beginning class a couple of years ago, we went around the room and said why we wanted to learn German, and quite a few of the people (not just one!) said their goal was to read Nietzsche or Kant (!!!)...sometimes we hold ourselves up to impossibly high standards, or think we are only legitimate if we want read the classics, when maybe our true taste runs to Westerns or SciFi or melodramas or whatever.
I have skated along lazily in Spanish for years without working on my skills, and honestly, at times I'm horrified at how bad my knowledge of grammar is. Having said that, I have no trouble at all communicating with the people I care about in Spanish, which is what matters. Will anyone lying on his deathbed regret not spending more time poring over grammar textbooks? No way! I'm not saying be a slacker, but learning or mastering a language shouldn't be the end in itself, but a means to enrich your life (whatever that means to you). Your language skills are awesome, and as a fellow struggler with some of the same perfectionistic tendencies, I suggest trying to let them go and stop torturing yourself. It's a fruitless path to pursue.
Whatever misunderstandings, etc. you mentioned, are probably not as bad as you imagine. We all have moments where our good intentions go awry or our not so good intentions we normally keep under wraps surface in embarassing ways. It's also just part of being human and fallible.
Hang in there. (And sorry if this sounded preachy, didn't mean it to)
