Last year I got some really negative reactions for being too active, so I thought I'd
step gracefully back for a while, and let everyone else have their say :-)I did not
want to outstay my welcome on the forum.

Otherwise I can just say "Welcome paesano I am extremely happy to see you on
the Russian team!

My comment was tongue-in-cheek, but let's be frank, you did initiate a number of threads which created a lot of comments and discussions. I mean that as a compliment, and this forum would be a lot poorer if it weren't for the really active members like yourself, tarvos, emk, josquin, Iversen etc.

Yes, looking forward to be on the Russian team with you. Team Пушкин it is then, I assume. I guess it means I should try to read some of his poems next year.

I'm sorry but I fail to find the edit button on the wikia page, so please Josquin, could you add me to the
Scandinavian team with Norwegian (current level : rusty A2) and to the German team as well ( level : rusty B2
dating back to a decade ago, whatever that makes now). Thanks in advance!
I intend to keep my old log

As fellow German learners are silent so far let me offer not only my candidature as a captain (meh), but also to
suggest a name: Team Gegenwart.
(yes, we are against waiting)
(oh I adore this word)

No problem! I gotcha. The edit button is on top of the page, next to the headline.

And Josquin: Great minds think alike! I had planned to propose "Team Pushkin" myself, as I think it would be nice for the Russian team to step out of the space and war themes, and into a theme of culture and refinement.

I look forward to see what the other teams will come up with in the way of names. Are
any new team threads created yet?

Great, but in German the saying is a little bit different: "Zwei Dumme, ein Gedanke." I like your version better though. :D

No, there are no team threads that I am aware of yet, but I'd like to repeat Serpent's advice:

Team threads are only to be opened by the prospective captains of the team, who need to be senior members of this forum. Newbies can't become team captains!

How are we going to come up with team names for both the East Asian and Romance team? I'm
guessing it would be something that resonates with all languages involved or just be left
literal.

For the East Asian team, we could simply choose a certain Chinese character (Hanzi, Hanja, Kanji) with an auspicious meaning. The last East Asian team was Team 鶴, which means crane. The last Romance Team, however, was called Team Romulans, so you see there are no limits to our creativity.

I suggest the formation of a Jap team, because I'm infatuated by that lang; put me down for the Jap team, accordingly.

I encounter technical problems with the Wikia, so I sign up in this thread:

- I will be studying Japanese in 2015
- I want to join the Japanese team
