I think sctroyenne is more needed in the advanced team, as the was the one who came up with most ideas
and has experience in learning languages at that stage while doing production.

Although I agree with this, it's simpler than that. Like any other type of leadership, you just have to be present and interpret members' needs.
Of course, you may want to run the extra mile and make it a nice hangout, but that's optional.
As for newbies, we've all been there: a newcomer may become an asset (we all want many of those) but the turnover rate is predictably high. So, sorry. Maybe next year.
As for the minimal amount of work involved, Peter Mollenburg's post above (just an example) must have involved more research than some team thread beginnings from a recent past.
In the end, it's a rewarding experience. For the person and for the team.

sctroyenne, do you accept the leadership for the Celtic team, or would you like to share it with jeff_lindqvist? We should get the team thread started as the TAC will begin the day after tomorrow. |

Any news? Is it up to me now? Just let me know, and if so, I'll set up a Team log (by the way, any name suggestions?)

Checking in here. Jeff, if you wouldn't mind taking up the Celtic team and that frees
me up for other duties (didn't anticipate being so "popular" this year...).
Advanced Study Group - I've been sketching out plans for how I'd want the group to work
so if there are no objections and no one else would like to take the helm, I can start
that group (as advanced students of languages I see it being a very self-motivated
group anyway).
As for French, we obviously need some direction here. I think both Jeffers and
PeterMollenburg have proved themselves to have many leadership qualities - posting
regularly in their own logs and the logs of their teammates and in the SC discussions.
Plus Jeffers led the Learning-Based Challenge. We can make the team very collaborative
to take the load off: for example, a different member can take the helm each month to
do a themed challenge of some sort. And/or we can set up mentoring between
intermediate/beginners and advanced/intermediates so that a sole team leader isn't
responsible for making sure everyone receives encouragement and that no one falls
through the cracks. Either of you (or anyone else) interested in taking the reins for
the initial setup?
I'm not anticipating having a very eventful New Year's Eve/Day so I'll be back a little
later to check up on things. Anyone involved in the groups just cited that want to hash
out an arrangement of some kind and want a more quick response/back and forth
discussion medium to work with feel free to send a PM.
