Finished Part Two of the Practice In Pronunciation from the FSI workbook.
Also went through Anki cards and added 2 more. Total of 15 cards now (both sides which equals 30 cards) - Mainly just sentences, with a few common greetings.
Still have to write the dialog of this part in my notebook and then off to study Japanese. Will do more Finnish studying later on.

Since it is getting late, I just finished Tape 2, which goes to 1/5 of Part Three or so.
I really need to manage my time better...

Yesterday: Just went through Anki, was a really lazy day...
Today: Got really good motivation from my boyfriend so was wanting to study a lot. But since I went to the movies, ended up not doing as much as I wanted. Still, finished whole Part Three of Practice in Pronunciation, added 2 more cards to Anki and reviewed the cards I had for today. So was a good day. Tomorrow, on to the last part and then can start on Unit 1.

Just as it has become an habit, I was about to do my daily night study when I realized Part Four would be better done if I printed the pages. So I will have to do that tomorrow and then I can work on it.
I still went through my cards, but I wish I had noticed that before because now it feels like a day gone to waste. Oh well, I'll try and work harder tomorrow.

I feel pretty pissed that I wrote a lot of text and my Internet caused problems and deleted the whole thing... I'll try and write it again...
I feel pretty sick today. But I still tried to study. I did half of Part Four of Practice in Pronunciation from the workbook, which so far is the part I liked most. The exercises are practical, you actually have to write, which is good in my opinion. It lets me see how well I can already distinguish the sounds in Finnish and further helps in understanding the differences in certain sounds.
I still have a few problems with u and y, e and ä, and a and ä. These are mainly because sometimes ä is pronounced a, and in some rarer situations (so far) ä really sounds like e. These is what I have found out and what it sounds to my ear at least.
The second half of this part is a bit harder than the first half, since they ask me to analyze and write down what I hear. And apart from being completely new words, they are people's names. And maybe because of that, they are also spoken faster and so it's harder for me to distinguish sounds in them. But I'll go at it tomorrow when, hopefully, I'm feeling better.
Ah, and I also went through Anki. There are some cards I have been having troubles with and keep confusing, but hopefully this will be solved soon as I keep insisting in them.
Aside note: I still think the log is good to keep me on track and, as I can see from this post, also helps me keep track of the problems I have so I don't forget to work on them later. But I'm not a fan of diaries. And writing like this for days without no replies what so ever, really starts feeling like one. So, I'm trying to keep at it, but if this feeling doesn't go away, I don't know if I can. What I'm saying is, if there are people reading this log and have an interest in it, I don't mind (and appreciate) feedback! So don't hesitate in posting, I don't really care if you take up space. ^^

Hi there, I'm learning Finnish too. It's certainly a challenge. Good luck with it!

Thanks Evita! It is a challenge, but I'm trying to keep on going as much as I can!
I have to get to bed earlier today, so study time was cut down a lot. I started on the second half of part four but didn't even finish the first exercise, which still took me around 10 minutes though. Guess I'll need to try hard to study during the afternoon tomorrow.

Just want you to know I'm also reading your log :) I haven't logged in for ages due to a stay at my grandmother's and a not very warm welcome from my PC when I returned home... I visited the forum every now and then though, and I always checked your log and the Finnish thread :) So I'm finally saying GOOD LUCK to you :-)
