Both are fine with me but 8 o'clock suits me just fine, a little bit better than 5 even :)

(I am thus in, yes...)

Fantastic, 8 o'clock it is!
I'm excited to hear/see you all again, as well!

So I've been using Russian lately as a secret language somewhat, with one of my friends who is studying Russian
in school. There is a girl in one of my classes, whom my friend and I have been dying to talk to for a while but
have been rather nervous about it. This is because she has the appearance of a rail-thin demon, with wild hair
and green eyes that flash us away when we pass by. Well, perhaps we're exaggerating that bit, but she's the most
interesting part about the class (that fact there just speaks volumes about the content of the course..).

Anyway, the reason I mention it is that we have invented an entire funny background story for her.
We know she's from Norway, since she reads funny news stories about celebrities and UFOs and such in
Norwegian on her laptop during class. I've also seen her browsing metal detectors online, with the obvious
intention of buying. I guess she imagines she'll find some ancient Masonic treasury around the monuments
here...

Her name is Katarina and she looks sort of Slavic, so we originally attributed her to being Russian/Ukrainian, etc.
Now, the pieces are falling together better, and we have a better concept in our heads. We think she is the
daughter of refugees from Belarus who fled religious prosecution. Maybe she is also related to Alexander Rybak.
When we refer to her, we call her Беларусь-Норвегии. If the <<Беларусь>> part is true, though, we're in
trouble, since she's probably been listening to us talk to her this whole time...Then again, if she's Norwegian, she
should be nice, right? I thought maybe to introduce ourselves in Norwegian? We'll see how this story of intrigue
plays out...

Being Norwegian I am sure she is nice :-)

In Mauritius my sister and I saw this woman we made up a story about. She was always unsmiling, always smoking and always reading, so we decided she was a French publisher.

When we finally talked to her it turned out she was a Scottish school teacher who was very shy, and had bad teeth - hence the lack of smiles. But she was really friendly and nice.

How the Camel Lost His Good Looks

They say that long, long ago, the Camel used to be one of the most handsome animals.
He had a long fluffy tail and nice and mighty horns.

All the animals in the forest and the steppe were envious of the Camel. Many of them
wanted to have the kind of tail that the camel had, or the kind of horns he had.

The Camel knew of this and said proudly:

--"You won't find the kind of tail I have, or the horns, anywhere else in the world!"

But it would have been better had he not boasted.

Once, he came to the river to have a drink of water and there met a Maral.

--"I'm invited to a party. Will you lend me your horns, just for a while?" asked the Maral.

The Camel lent him his horns. Later on that very day the Camel met a horse.

--"I'm invited to a party," said the Horse. "Will you lend me your tail?"

The Camel agreed and stayed on the bank of the river. The Maral and the Horse ran off.
All day long the Camel drank water and looked up the road while waiting for them. But there
was no sign of either the Maral nor the Horse.

The Maral had deceived the Camel and skipped over to the taiga. he stayed there forever and never
went out into the open steppe. He got accustomed to the horns as if they were his.
The Horse never gave back the borrowed tail and when he comes across the Camel, he gets
frightened and runs away.

That is how the Camel lost his good looks and sweet temper.
