It would seem as an ideal place for me to go 'tourist' (you know how I generally hate tourism), but OTOH in your log you said you managed -stress aside, I hope you recover soon from that- to speak incredibly little Russian, so I'm not sure after all... anyway I hope you really enjoy yourself in there :)

I'd rather they keep the excursions in Russian, that way I won't get lazy and take the
English tour.

Exactly what I meant...
The only thing I "hate" more than tourists is a tourist guide speaking English to the herd, except maybe if it's butchered English which can be quite hilarious.

I wouldn't use a tourist guide anyway. Why do I need to pay exorbitant amounts of money
if I can go find out myself, at my leisure, using my schedule. The most I would pay for
is a private guide if I was concerned about security, or I'd go with a local friend or
something. I've never done guided tours except for a one day tour or so in Iceland, and
that is because we needed to use the bus and the distances were too big (I don't have a
driver's licence or I could have rented a car).

Something tells me none of us means big bucks for the tourism industry...

I'm not their target audience anyway; I would never have been targeted by them.

This Youtube channel has loads of full-length Russian films which you can watch. I'm not sure which have subtitles,
but I'm sure some must:

A good way to go about finding films is simply to look up something like "Best Russian films" on Google or "Best ___
Russian films" (filling in the blank with your favorite genre) and then writing down the titles that seem interesting to
you. From there, search for the film on Youtube, on Google Video, and then just on a standard Google search.
You're bound to find the film with subtitles somewhere abouts on the web.
Here's one movie to start you out with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1lSfKqgGKQ
