Alright, it's been six months since my last post... but now I'm here, alive and kicking! Well, the thing is, my academic life was a total mess, my scheduling skills were THE ULTIMATE MESS and shamefully I neglected most of my languages.
The thing is, I finnally made up my mind about which graduation go for. I already knew Journalism sooooo wasn't for me, but it took time for me to decide to go for International Relations. So, this year my dear University basically changed the way poor new students are selected, that is, a brand new format for the exam, which from this year on will focus on different aspects of the subjects than the previous one did. Well, I've been reviewing the content, simulating the exam and training my resistance like crazy (and dealing with a few uni classes alongside). That's where French comes in! The French classes, even though their schedule was interrupted and turned into a mess, in the end we were able to follow it, and was an interesting experience. I already knew le passé composé and le futur proche when I started to study for the 6WC. :) I'm using the Grammaire Progressive du Français and Michel Thomas. I still don't know whether I'll keep it as a active language. Russian I've been studying it with the RussianForFree website, currently in the "Russian Cases" course. There's still a long road ahead until I've covered everything in the A1 level, I must recognize, but I'm making up for it. I'll be studying it actively next year. German Nothing for the 6WC, but after that I'll rearrange my study methods for it. Definitely going for it in 2013. Now it's a matter of honor. English After a lot of Doctor Who and Downton Abbey episodes British English look much less foreigner to my ears. Yay! As a whole, my listening comprehension boosted up. Last post of the year and in this log.
Looking at my 2012 spreadsheet, I realized I haven't put the study hours of February, March, early April and some days of June. Most of them are recorded somewhere in my papers, though. When I get back from the trip I'll see that. Due to this gap, I can't tell for sure how many time I spent in Russian and German. A reasonable guess would be 30 hours each. French: Aproximately 56 hours, could be more or less, because I don't remember exactly how many classes I took. The schedule was messy. English: ~20hours, counting from the November 6WC. Real hours (counting before the 6WC) are impossible to caculate. I'd say I learned a lot about my bad habits, and how to do a productive study session. I still have to improve many aspects of my learning and how to organize my time, and event though I didn't make throughout the whole year, it was a valuable experience. 1 person has voted this message useful |
