No, I actually meant Tove Jansson ;) She's better known as a writer but to herself the painting career was equally important. There's currently a really big exhibition in Helsinki with her paintings and drawings and basically everything about her life.

Oh! I’ve always thought of her just as a writer and I thought she only illustrated her Muminserien on the side. As you can see, I’ve a lot to learn. But these exchanges prove useful, don’t you think? ;-)

Sorry guys, I haven’t been very present in recent weeks. Last December I was reluctant to become the team leader because I knew sooner or later I would kind of disappear from the forum. It happens almost cyclically.
Anyway, today I’m here and I’ve noticed that I’ve been remiss in setting a monthly challenge for September. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, this month’s challenge is going to be about art in the Nordic countries.
September Challenge
Read up about an artist, a work of art, an artistic movement, etc. linked somehow to the Nordic countries and report back to the team. A few points to make the challenge easier and more doable for more people:
- you can get your information in whatever language you want, even though using your TL is most recommended.
- you don’t have to limit yourself to art from “your” Nordic country. If you study Danish but want to know more about Edvard Munch that’s absolutely fine.
- we don’t need an essay when you report back. A few sentences will suffice.
- since it’s already so late in the month, the deadline for the challenge will be mid-October.
Just to give you a starting point here are a couple of links to Wikipedia (my Danish and Norwegian aren’t great, so there may be better pages in those languages):
Svensk konst
Norsk kunst

I have taken up Emme's challenge and written a little story in Southern Jutish about the Danish painter Otto Frello.
