Favourite book: Les mille et une nuits (I'm reading it in this moment. It's the first book that I read in French but I'm overly enjoying it)
Favourite comic/BD: don't have one
Favourite film: never watched a movie in French until now
Favourite TV series: same as the movie
Favourite band/singer/musician: I don't usually listen to French music
Favourite audiobook/podcast: never listened to an audiobook, never listened to a podcast consistently
Favourite textbook: only finished one and I disliked it
Favourite audio learning resource: I don't use audio learning resources (just some random radios sometimes)
Favourite video learning resource: Never used video learning resources
Favourite web-based learning resource: Never used web-based learning resources for French
Anything else about your learning journey: I did some French at the middle school and completely forgot it. 9 months ago I decided to learn French because it is useful on my workplace. I thus made a placement test at the Alliance Française and I resulted to be A2.2 (but they were wrong, I didn't even remember how to conjugate the verb 'to be'. I was more probably an A1.2). Since the spoken and written language was easy to me to understand I managed to improve practically just by attending the classes and speak French in my workplace without seriously working at it at home. Since I never worked at it seriously, my biggest issue with French is the grammar and I'm working with a B1/B2 method. I just finished the B1.2 course at the Alliance Française with a score of 87.9 without any home study, thing that makes me think that this course is too unchallenging and I would like to have access to a more difficult and challenging class. My written production is still rudimentary because of my very little work. My listening skills also demand some exercise.
Sorry for my very useless form :D

Hey Tristano, welcome to the team! Your form is amusingly blank, but you can get some favourites this year, right?

Good luck French learners! As it was the case last year, I won't be at the team but will keep following the team thread. Bonne année et bon courage à tous.

Anything else about your learning journey: I’ve only recently decided to attempt
French again (after some false starts in the past), so most of the ‘favourite’
categories here are blank and I don’t really have much to add at the moment. Hopefully
by the end of 2015 I’ll be able to answer a few more of these. :)
PS: I have no idea how to post a link to my log in this forum, sorry. :(

With all due respect to the Brits, I present my FAVORITES:
Username: IBEP
Level in French: This is tricky because my knowledge of Spanish (and past dabbling in Portuguese, Catalan, and
Italian) mean that my comprehension, especially of written texts, is pretty advanced for a language (B1+) I've only
devoted about 30-40 hours of active study to. But my active knowledge is basically an A1, so we'll say A1 for now.

Favorite book: À la recherche du temps perdu de Marcel Proust
Favorite comic/BD: Persepolis de Marjane Satrapi
Favorite film: L'auberge Espagnole (but I haven't seen many French movies, and to be honest this movie is French
and Spanish with a smattering of ~5 other languages thrown in as well)
Favorite TV series: No idea, haven't watched any French TV yet
Favorite band/singer/musician: Don't really have a favorite yet, I've started listening to French music, but only
recently and haven't really gotten to listen to many different artists
Favorite audiobook/podcast: Les Grosses Têtes, I don't understand that much yet, but they always sound like they're
having so much fun
Favorite textbook: Ew.
Favorite audio learning resource: FSI
Favorite video learning resource: www.fluentu.com
Favorite web-based learning resource: www.lingvist.io

Anything else about your learning journey: I re-started learning French about 18 months ago after an ~25
year break. I really enjoyed my college French lit classes, and that coupled with an upcoming trip to Montreal
last year re-started this journey. I'm really having fun now that I can use native materials, although I still have
a long ways to go in this journey!

Favourite book, Favourite comic/BD, Favourite film, Favourite TV series: due to my inexperience with French, I am
yet to have any of these things. I will update this information later.
Favourite band/singer/musician: Stromae
Favourite audiobook/podcast: n/a
Favourite textbook: Assimil New French with Ease
Favourite audio learning resource: n/a, although I have Pimsleur Conversational Course and have used FSI FAST
course as my main learning method.
Favourite video learning resource: Have only watched one episode on youtube, but will probs be French in Action.
Favourite web-based learning resource: Haven't used it for French so far, but Duolingo is great. Definitely
recommend Duolingo, especially for beginners to language-learning.
Anything else about your learning journey: Will check out the DLI courses sometime. Lots of links and
suggestions have been made on my log and in the thread which I put a link to in the first post of my log. My other
'bought' resource (Assimil is the other one) is Essential French Grammar by Dover. I've read the whole book, and I
highly recommend it. Also, I have French pen-pals (well, email buddies) to practice my French with.
Bonne chance!

Anything else about your learning journey:
If asked, "What second language would you like to learn?", French has always been my first answer. In junior high school I wanted to take a French course but was enrolled in Latin instead. I hated it.
In the late sixties I lived in Montréal for four years and learned some French. It was mostly juoal and street slang. Now, I would like to learn French as it is spoken in France.
My goals for this year:
* Reach an A2 or maybe B1 level.
* I will read at least one French easy reader, and one French classic by Jules Verne or Alexander Dumas. As a child I read their novels in English and would like to read them in French.
* I will watch at least one Les petits meurtes d'Agatha Christie episode without subtitles.
* I will continue with Pimsleur French and finish all three volumes (I'm up to lesson seven on the first volume).
* I will finish one text book.
* I will finish Duolingo
Bonne Année et bon santé à tous,
Thomas
