Hi everyone, this is the log for the new year.
As preannounced, I won't plan to reach any specific level during this year in my languages. I will study and put effort
and in the end of the year I will be glad for the improvements.

The languages I plan to study are the one listed in this log's name.

This is the current situation:

English

+ I use this language every day at work and for my social life without big issues
+ I didn't do formal studies so my grammar could be much better
- I have huge difficulties with some American and British accent

action points:
. reading novels to improve my vocabulary
. using lang-8 to improve my writing

French

+ I can use this language for professional and personal life
- My active vocabulary is short
- My grammar knowledges are still weak

action points:
. attending classes
. reading novels
. studying grammar

Dutch

+ big improvements compared to beginning 2014
+ I can read emails and reply
- still a lot of work to do

action points:
. assimil
. reading novels
. studying grammar
. skype conversations

Spanish

+ very good passive skills
- very basic active skills

action points:
. studying grammar
. watching movies
. Spanishpod101
. skype conversations

Russian

Totally new language, I start from 0.

News

2014-12-26: first dropped (postponed?) project, Lithuanian. Beautiful and fascinating, although not a good moment
for me to study it.

¡Gracias!

Tristano,

Lithuanian (and Latvian) are both amazing languages. I am really fond of Lithuanian
(and Latvian) culture and languages.

I am not sure how helpful will be, but I will post here some suggestions that might
useful in the future.

1.
There are channels available on Youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/user/kristytamo/featured
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1JZFw7K0e5j7VVbF0UERBA

2.
As for other websites I have used so far:

These are some courses:
http://www.debeselis.net/
http://www.slic.org.au/Language/LLL_index.swf
http://ikindalikelanguages.com/labs/courses.php?id=33
http://labs.ikindalikelanguages.com/courses.php?id=16
http://www.oneness.vu.lt/
http://www.lithuanian.libsyn.com/
A podcast (It is not that frequently updated, but I find it very good)

3.Forum:

http://www.unilang.org/viewforum.php?f=64
http://www.debeselis.net/forum/index.php

4.
Other websites:
http://postilla.mch.mii.lt/Kalba/kalbarast.en.htm
http://www.thelithuanians.com/school.html
http://www.ucl.ac.uk/atlas/lithuanian/language.html

5.
Online dictionary:

I am not sure how good it is, though:
http://www.zodynas.lt/

There were other good dictionaries but the websites is out. If they become active
again, I will leave here the link.

6. The classic textbook is 'Introduction to Modern Lithuanian' by Dambriunas, Klimas
and Schmalstieg. It's very solid on grammar and things like the accent system.

15. I have used the Teach Yourself collection for other languages and I don't like it
much. It might give you a brief insight about the language, but it should have more
audio, I think.

16 Colloquial Lithuanian by Routledge.

I think the texts are good and well selected. You can get some insight about the basic
vocabulary A1 and perhaps A2 level, but this book perhaps lack in more grammar
explanation and exercises.

If you have a chance to visit Vilnius, you can find some reasonable bookstores and
you can try visiting the Vilnius University (I am not sure if this was the real name).
I am glad that I was understood by local people by the time I visited Lithuania.

@Arthaey, no problem ;)

@Nieng Zhonghan, thank you immensely! Unfortunately I don't have the possibility to visit Lithuania this year. A
two/three weeks full immersion course would be the best way to break the ice but this would also mean goodbye to
my trips in Spain and Japan :(
There are also other courses for Lithuanian (like 'Beginner Lithuanian') but I don't know personally how to proceed
with this language. The ideal would be an Assimil course (:
How did you proceed? How would you personally advice me to proceed? I personally don't mind to work through
grammar and exercises and meanwhile using other resources to improve my vocabulary. I doubt I will ever speak
this language a lot and to me a very good starting point is achieving comprehension and writing skills. Thank you
again!

EDIT: I'm sorry for the very quick change of mind (but still I thank you wholeheartedly for your kindness to
share all these resources with me) but I decided that it's too heavy to me to study Lithuanian in this moment, so I
drop (postpone?) this project so that I can concentrate on the other languages plus start Russian as soon as I can.
Thank you again!
