A little update during this first week of 2014.
Yesterday I listened to RnaG for about 1.5 hours.
I also read An Hobad (and The Hobbit), pages 118-128 for 1 hour (I usually split the time equally, so 30 minutes Irish and 30 minutes English).
Same amount of reading today (Friday), pages 128-139. Some words might come in handy (but I don't think will be talking about damháin alla and féileacáin anytime soon).

It sounds like you really leveled up in Irish in 2013, Jeff. It's been a pleasure reading your posts, especially hearing about your immersion at Oideas Gael, and I look forward to studying together again this year. The Tarzan-Irish comment made me laugh this morning; this probably places my Irish somewhere in the vicinity of Tarzan's hairy chimp companion "Cheeta". ;) Wishing you all the very best of Irish luck in 2014!

Yeah, for once it feels like I've really levelled up in a language in such a short time. I'm sure that the immersion at Oideas Gael (and my motivation) played an important part.
I got a physical copy of their catalog yesterday, and when I woke up I realized that I even dreamed that I was there and spoke to the staff (in English though).
I won't give up Irish this time!

Status report:
I've spent a lot of time (~4 hours) on homework (due this week): putting a story in the past tense (first person singular+first person plural, including any changes of possessive pronouns), writing a postcard about a holiday in Spain (I really enjoyed this!), reading comprehension, a multiple-choice gap text and finally another gap text (where we could use any vocabulary we wanted, as long as it made sense).
Some 15 minutes on grammar exercises before I went to sleep. ~2.5 hours of RnaG. Another bilingual 60 minute session with An Hobad/The Hobbit - pages 152-163.
Tomorrow I must find the discipline to do the homework for Monday. It's our last online class that day as well, and the final exam on Thursday. Assuming I'll pass that, I'll be ready for Modern Irish III.
Bonus:
Old Irish I starts on Monday the 20th January.

Sunday:
Reviewing (handouts from) older lessons ~1 h
Basic Grammar - Unit 3 (Initial mutations: lenition), Unit 4 (Other mutations) and Unit 5 (Nouns and articles) ~45 minutes
Scriptorium - lesson 13 from Gaeilge gan Stró ~1.5 h
Monday:
Reviewing older lessons ~1.5 h
Online class ~1.5 h (impromptu conversation; exercises on past tense, adjectives, genitives and much more)
Two hour-long sessions with this week's assignment (a mock email about another holiday)
Tuesday:
Five hours of RnaG throughout the day
One hour of Basic Grammar - Unit 6 (Noun classes and cases), Unit 7 (Personal names) and Unit 8 (Place-names)
To me, the most difficult (or time-consuming) grammar topic is genitive phrases (including adjectives, e.g. ainm+an fear+mór=ainm an fhir mhóir).
I'll spend some more hours on this tomorrow...

Wednesday:
I was preparing for the exam and read/reviewed grammar explanations for an hour, to the point where I told myself that I wouldn't benefit from any more cramming.
Thursday:
Exam! We had to finish it within two hours (anytime during the day), I may have used 90 minutes (slightly less). It felt pretty OK, but I wasn't 100% sure of all the answers.
Friday:
I got the results of the final homework, which were satisfying ("Ar fheabhas, mar is gnáth! Roinnt ceartúchán iniata leis seo."). Funny though, to get those results after you've taken the exam (I mean, they would be more useful before, right?).
Oh, I just saw the results of my exam - Passed with distinction. Now I can relax!
