I got my Assimil Hungarian from Indigo-Chapters books in Canada as it was cheaper from them that Amazon.ca. It was sent out immediately so I was happy.

It appears as if the link mentioned on the previous page is working again:

Assimil page at Amazon.fr

If you click on the link it will take you to that page. However, if you bookmark it and open it later via the bookmark, the page will redirect. It might be useful, but it's elusive!

The best place to find the Assimil books is Amazon France:

http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/3422571

Note that some titles may not be at other Amazon websites, because they have a french ISBN number or ASIN number as Amazon calls them and not all french ISBN are in the catalog of the other countries.

It is a good idea to copy the ISBN and to check in other Amazon websites, because sometimes you can find used versions of the books that are cheaper.

Thanks for bumping the topic back to the top again. I have intended to add my comments below for sometime:

The best place to buy Assimil is straight from www.assimil.com itself. I ordered from Amazon.fr first because I was reluctant to use the Assimil web site -- out of uncertainty. Then I took a chance and ordered direct from Assimil and I was presently surprised. After I pressed the checkout button, the site redirected me to a secure page to complete my order.    After placing the order I got an email from Assimil to confirm my order and shipping address. I received my order in 7 days or less even with trans-Atlantic shipping. They even followed up the order with a thank you note via the mail. I have placed two orders with Assimil directly and had the same quality service both times.

Does the Assimil website offer tax-free shopping? Amazon.fr kindly removes the VAT (on just about everything) and I've saved quite a bit in the past.

I don’t recall seeing the VAT on my invoice.

Just one further note: Assimil.com is pricier than Amazon.fr, so I’d check Amazon first and see if course is available and if not then order from Assimil. With Amazon.fr you can always order a few extra paperbacks to offset the cost of shipping.
