Wow, that Wikipedia page warms my heart so much, you don't even know.
I also chuckled when I read that last part. You must be from the area.

Il faisait beau aujourd'hui. Je suis heureuse à cause de ça. En janvier, à New York,
It's funny, you know, I'm doing two Assimils at once and so I can't help but compare.
My conclusion: Assimil French is definitely way funnier than Assimil Indonesian.
Like, there's not even a contest. Every day it's like:
Assimil French: *Whoa ho ho, hilarious story about a diamond-eating rabbit*
Assimil Indonesian: "I would like to rent a bicycle or perhaps a scooter. Bicycles are
less dangerous than scooters but easier to steal. You can't have this scooter. I like
the helmet that goes with your scooter. But I cannot trade my helmet for your scooter.
Please remember to return my scooter."
Maar goed, ik heb les 26 in Assimil l'indonésien sans peine en les 17 in Assimil French
with ease afgemaakt.

Bijna elke dag...

makes no grammatical sense, what did you want to say?. Of, tenminste, toen ik naar

Not sure on this one, but "ces jours beaux" just sounds backwards to me--probably
because somewhere in Assimil they talk about "les beaux jours." Your grammar in writing
French has looked better than mine so far, so consider this a question rather than a
correction.
I've definitely seen this difference in Assimil funniness, too, in particular with
Italian. In fact, after the first week or two, the text actually apologizes for the
fact that the texts have been so boring to that point, because they were selected to
illustrate certain grammar inflections (e.g., using the full range of pronouns). And it
never got better. The lessons became more like quasi-interesting stories eventually,
but nothing resembling a joke. The Hebrew course, on the other hand, is just constant
cut-ups, and Russian isn't far behind. Dutch is criticized for being annoying, but they
at least are trying to be funny, from what I recall.

New Yorkers klagen er constant over. Maar goed, New Yorkers klagen over
alles.

D'oh! No, you're absolutely right of course. I remember learning BAGS in high school French now - BAGS standing
for Beauty, Age, Goodness, and Size, i.e., all the types of adjectives that go before the verb.
Thank you for the correction.

Ha!! Yeah, for a while I thought like - hey, Assimil's supposed to be funny. Maybe I'm just not getting the humor
because it's delightfully subtle and dry? But I've definitely ruled out that possibility by now.
So glad I'm not alone in this.
