That's a fair question, thanks for calling me out. It's always been easier for me to listen to the way people pronounce single sounds than hearing prosodic differences, so to me stockholmska is first and foremost the R's, the short Ö that tends towards a U, the way the long Ö changes before Rs, and a tinge of nasality. Prosody is also part of the equation, but I'm not as confident in my ability to hear the differences. For example, it's difficult for me to distiguish between standard-sounding Stockholm and Gothenburg speakers, and I still find it hard to hear any Gothenburg in the way Ebba von Sydow speaks (on TV at least).
In this case it was her Rs and the nasality that drew my attention. I realize the features I listed above are not unique to Stockholm, nor do all natives of Stockholm exhibit them in their speech, and that prosody probably factors into my perceptions even if I'm not aware of it, but I'd argue this was still an educated guess, if nothing else. :-)

Okay for everyone who's up for the Skype session:
Sunday, February 10th 3PM UTC.
I'll guess we'll have to add eachother on Skype so I'll post my Skype name when I'm home.
I read on the Skype website that at least someone needs a Permium-Account to have a group
conversation? Does anyone have one?

As far as I know, you can have group conversations with your standard account, but only
for voice calls (upgrade required for video calls).

OK, I see. I guess I have to hear it myself to have a decent opinion.
I just had a listen to Ebba von Sydow in a random Youtube clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJAReNLnCUI
She has the "Stockholm" sounds alright, but now and then the "west coast" prosody is there. During the first 25 seconds, I'd rate "seglarstil", "trackad", "mörkblått", "visst har jag", "Marstrand" as typical west coast-accent (on par with SVT screenwriter Hans Rosenfeldt, but he's from Borås).

Challenge #6. Where do you go on holiday? Write five sentences about your favourite

Challenge Nr. 6: Where do you go on holiday? Write 5 sentences! (DANISH)
