From what I understand, this is the method (maybe I am wrong):

Read the book in your language.
Read the book in your target language with the audio playing at the same time as you read each word.
Repeat step number 2 but read the book in your language while the audio is playing instead of reading it in your target language.
Try to translate the book from your language to your target language.

Search the forum for "free audiobooks", or by all means, read this thread from the beginning. Many links are provided.

Anyway is their a way to get free audio books? What about a program that reads words to you, like a microsoft Sam or something like that? Oh please get a program THAT WILL SAY ALL THE WORDS CORRECTLY PLEASE!

Try "TextAloud" from www.nextup.com

However, the voices included with the program are not very good. You would need to purchase a high-quality voice from one of the vendors listed on the main page.

It seems to me that the mosts important things are

1) Listen and read a lot, and to the same content, mostly in the target language, but in the beginning, or when undertaking a new or difficult level you can also listen to L2 while reading L1. In my experience you will not do this for very long, but it cn help get you going.

2) Listen to things you like, content that is not too difficult, and where you like the voice. Listen many times. That is why it is worthwhile paying for a good audio book and avoiding computer generated audio or voice over.

3) Be systematic about vocabulary accumulation and content selection.

In other words, listen and read, and develop a system that reduces uncertainty and improves recall.

Does anyone know where to find the original (text) version of 'Samotność w Sieci' Wiśniewskiego and/or the
corresponding audiobook?
The links to samples here don't seem to work...

Yes, I know it's horrible and it's nothing like Kundera but then again - I'm shallow and intellectually lazy... Merci
d'avance.

siomotteikiru, who did ban you? You are more than welcome. Your method is the most talked about. We should not take things at a personal level when they are talked about on the internet. As long as your tone is not offensive to others, you are fine. I have not seen you using any vulgar or offensive language towards others. So what's the problem? Please resume your posting once again and you are certainly welcome as long as you stick to basic rules of the forum.
