I think elvisrules was correct from the beginning. I don't think "a Flemish" is the correct way to refer to a single person. I think it works like this: A Fleming = a person from Flanders A Flemish person = a person from Flanders The Flemish = people from Flanders The Flemish people = people from Flanders The Flemings = (maybe) for a specific group of Flemish people but it sounds awkward. A Flemish = not correct for a single person. That would be like saying "an Irish" for a single Irishman. Maybe some people use such words, but I don't, and I have never heard anyone using words in that way. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

FAQ-NL: Dutch language comics and cartoons?
My Dutch has reached a level where I can understand most Dutch language comics and cartoons. However, I find it very difficult to find good Dutch language comics and cartoons on the Internet. My favourite ones in English are Hagar, the Horrible, Dilbert, Garfield, Born Loser, and Wizard of Id. Does anyone know if there is a Dutch version of any of these? Any other recommendations? Any Internet sites? Any suggestions for good Dutch-language political cartoons, apart from Fokke en Sukke? 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

I like "Dirkjan" by Mark Retera, but some of the cartoons are a bit on the rude side. "De Familie Doorzon" is pretty good, but is adult only.

There are so many great Belgian comics! You're spoilt for choice!
Some were originally written in French, but as they are Belgium, all have Dutch versions: -Suske en Wiske (old Editions are in Flemish, but Dutch since the past few decades) -Kwik en Flupke -XIII -Kiekeboe -Tintin etc... If translations are acceptable, Asterix is also available in Dutch.
