So much the better, I thought you considered my "[NL] version" more correct. Thanks.

Is this another difference between Dutch and Flemish? Because this sentence sounds wrong and strange to me.

Well, interesting point. I would not advise it, but I hear it in Flanders. Of word ik hier door Duits beïnvloed? Op zich niet belangrijk: ik dacht aan die parallel, maar dat is een betrokkenheidsobject, maar in feite kan je even ver met een indirect/ meewerkend object (waar de prepositie facultatief is).

"Ik kocht mij een auto" sounds German to me but not Dutch. - I can't estimate how people say it in Flanders.

The 'betrokkenheidsobject' is quite common in Flanders, I think, in substandard language. That is not influence from German, I think, I wonder whether it does not exist in French as well, but I can't find examples.

Ik zou zeggen "ik kocht een auto voor mezelf" hoewel het eigenlijk al duidelijk is en ik zou dan waarschijnlijk alleen maar "ik kocht een auto" zeggen, want anders zou je vertellen precies voor wie dat is, zoals b.v. "ik kocht een auto voor mijn broer" of zoiets. Ik ben geen native speaker, dat is natuurlijk belangrijk om erbij te schrijven.

Ja precies, zo zou ik het ook zeggen.

I would say "ik heb een eigen auto gekocht".
