You need to register your account to Amazon.fr, but you also have to supply a CC and French billing address. I have heard of people getting around the CC by using a gift card to top-up their accounts, but I am not sure how effective that is. You might also need to log into the account with a French (Belgium/Monaco) IP, but maybe not. My guess is Amazon doesn't really care, but has to make an effort for legal reasons to stop people buying ebooks, but there is probably a limit to how much they will check. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

What might those legal reasons be though?

We have potentially the most connected and connectable world that there has ever been, but people keep erecting artificial barriers. Have anyone here read kindle books or other ebooks while taking part in Tadoku? How
does that work? Many ebooks don't feature page numbers, and the location numbers seems to be rather arbitrary... 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

For kindles without page numbers, they still give a percentage. You can google the book to find out the book's total pages in print form and then use the percentage to find out a rough estimate of your progress. Although pages are all variable depending on size of book- hardcover, trade or mass-market paperback. Still if a hardcover has 400 pages, a trade paperback 500 pages and a mass market paperback 650 pages, and your kindle says you have read 30%- then you will have read 120 pages in hardcover 150 pages in trade and 195 in mass-market paperback.
