Oh, btw, 'respectfully suggest' is really an English idiom and shouldn't really be taken too literally.

I find myself agreeing with the thrust of Cainntear's previous comment. I came across this website and forum while searching for information and opinions on language learning. And, in general it is a very useful resource that I find myself coming back to repeatedly whenever a question or uncertainty occurs.

However, two aspects of this forum really bug me:

(1) posters with nothing to contribute except for their certainty and belligerence.

(2) a widespread sycophantic element.

This worries me as I had long been of the opinion that interest and exposure to different ideas, cultures and languages broadened the mind not narrowed it.

This room as been created at Prof. Arguelles' request so that people could ask him questions and he could reply in a more efficient manner than writing personal emails. If you stepped into his office at his University you would certainly want to use a tone similar to the one we use in this room. If you resent polyglots or the special status he enjoys in our little community, well maybe indeed this is not the forum for you.
