Don't be so quick to say impossible :). Many manage to achieve it with almost no trace of any foreign identity. I know many people who do it quite well, and they only have recently lived here in the US.

Anyway that's off topic. I thought it was really interesting, and you do seem to have very good pronunciation in all of those languages. However, I did notice that your German could be a bit thicker with a German accent. Very good however and I applaud you on your study of Ancient Greek.

Hi JW,

Thanks for uploading two new videos. I am getting a bit tired of listening to only religious texts. What I like very much, is your intonation! I would recommend you to polish a bit the pronounciation of your vowels to make them sound more naturally. With this I refer to both languages. For example in Dutch the "oe" has to be pronounced identically with the German "u", but in your video it's more an "ü" (u - Umlaut) - sound.

Do you make voice recordings for your own practice? I myself do this only for Danish. For Turkish I do shadowing without recording it.

Will you ever have the chance to visit the countries of your foreign languages again?

Good! Just so that you get to improve yourself, I think that you pronounce your ''r'' in French a wee bit too ''roughly'' as if it was Spanish or italien. French ''r'' are softer than that. Keep up your good work!

The Bible texts are meaningful for me as I enjoy memorizing the Bible in various languages. However, I also like poetry so I'll make some recordings of poems at some point. I think I finally have the hang of the whole process of recording and uploading videos efficiently so I'll hopefully be able to do it more regularly.

Thanks for these tips. The Dutch vowels are a bit tricky for me. Much more subtle than German vowels.

I also only shadow without recording. I only record something when I feel I have totally mastered it, including having memorized it, and that I have internalized the meaning, rhythm, and, emotion behind it, and that I am reasonably certain that I am pronouncing each word correctly.

I do plan to travel to Europe at some point in the near future. My wife does not like to fly so it limits my ability to travel as much as I would like (I would have to go by myself and that would go over like a lead balloon with her). She also is nervous about traveling to Latin America which is very close to here (Florida). We did however visit Quebec twice in the last three years...

Thanks. I will work on that. I am planning to upload another video in French shortly so I'll see if I can improve it.

JW, I agree that Dutch vowels are not that easy. When I learned the language as a beginner, for me the "ui" diphtong was the most difficult to pronounce.

When speaking Dutch, your Dutch sounds to me, as if you were speaking some kind of Dutch dialect, but it's not a real existing one. My Dutch friend also listened to your Dutch video and he said that your Dutch sounds a bit artificial, which is logical, because you have never had the chance to speak it in Flanders or the Netherlands.

Generally poems would be more neutral for me to listen to and from the uploaded "sounds" in this forum, I know that you have a talent for reciting poems.

Couldn't you make a ship journey to Europe with your wife?

I'm aware this was not meant to be offensive but I found it very offensive.
