this is so interesting, I have to admit I really envy your opportunity, I would love to learn some of the smaller languages this intensively (I see Hebrew is offered!)

I am an applicant, but have heard no news aside from the 'need further information/budget

I am not sure whether they notified successful applicants all at once or over time, as I also know of a few other applicants who have not heard anything yet. Strange. I guess we'll find out soon. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you in any case.
1) My ancestry is Croatian (50% of me!) and I'm even a Croatian citizen but I've never spoken the language very well. Also, I want to work in US-Balkan relations in some capacity and a command of the most widely understood language in the region would be indispensable. Good reasons! I'm really interested in your progress, be sure to make the update or two. If you need the occasional practice or question regarding Croatian, be sure to ask too. (I'm not an expert, but I am a native speaker of it (along with German))
