But you just couldn't resist saying a little more here.

No "more" about it. I just said the little that I had to say.
Anything useful to add?

I like how the tension is rising with additional votes on each side.

Moses has chosen to learn a bewildering lot of very different languages, but it doesn't appear that he has the ambition of becoming a nearnative speaker in the majority of them. I find that a totally respectable strategy, just as respectable as learning a few languages extremely well (or even worse: no foreign languages at all). We need allrounders as much as specialists. His style in the videos reflect this choice, and even though my personal ideal is something much more systematic I accept that Moses has the right to make videos in his own manner.

It is quite another history with the morons that make those vicious commentaries in Youtube. Some have remarked that this forum occasionally is moderated rather strictly, and once in a while they may be right. But at least we are spared the bottomless stupidity and evilness of some of the commentaries at Youtube. I know that some contributors to youtube have been spared the worst excesses, but probably just because the marauding manure spreaders haven't found their videos yet. Personally I do watch videos there, but I have absolutely no intention of uploading anything myself.

EDIT: well, that's history. In spite of all my good intentions I also succombed to the greedy monster and fed it. Luckily without getting noticed too much yet.

There's a name for this syndrome: GIFT, the Greater Internet f**kwad Theory. It states, basically that a Normal Person + Anonymity + Audience = Total f**kwad. This idea can be traced back to Plato, who explored the idea of what people are like when they realize that there are no consequences to their actions.

If you want to read more about it, look here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GIFT

As far as I am concerned any comment about my language ability is fair game. I allow comments ranging from "he doesn't speak Spanish" to "he's a fake". I know both of those statements to be false, but I let people express their thoughts all the same. After all I did put videos up on YouTube about my passion for languages and I expect to take a fair amount of criticism for doing so.

In reality the negative comments mean very little. I know what I know and I am comfortable in my own skin. I think you have to be quite thick-skinned on YouTube or you'd delete everything, curl up in a ball in the corner of your room and never come out again!

As for Moses. I think he is a lovely person. I have been fortunate enough to talk to him and I really like the guy from what I know of him. He seems to be a very kind and gentle person and his passion for languages never comes into question for me. He certainly appears to get people pumped up to learn languages too, which is certainly a good thing.

The diversity of people on YouTube with widely ranging views on language learning is great to see. After all there is no one size suits all and this forum is also testament to that theory. It would be terribly boring if we were all the same and agreed on everything. This thread wouldn't be here for starters! ;)

I am not a big fan of his style, but his contributions are valuable and useful to many.

I just find it utterly absurd and ridiculous that someone could "hate" him because of his videos and posts.

Moses seems like a great guy, I love his enthusiasm for languages. From the videos I've seen, he doesn't boast or claim to be an expert in all his languages. He acknowledges that he is a student of languages, and accepts feedback from natives.

Everybody is different- some people want to learn a lot of languages to a moderate level, others want to learn a couple to a very high level. Some, like me, want to achieve advanced fluency in a couple, and then play around with dozens of others. And a few people, like Iverson and Torbyrne, manage to achieve great heights in ten or more languages.

We all like the same thing- languages- so I don't see reason to criticize someone just because their style is different.
