I just saw the film Toussaint Louverture, on TV5, with french subtitles. I enjoyed it a lot, plus I got to hear some haitian creol (I think). I like hearing those beautiful, enchanting accent variations of french.

I have finished the pimsleur 2nd lesson on russian.
I know it's too soon, but I remember things from all those years ago, so my motivation and confidence is high right now. The more I study russian the more I love it. Pimsleur is great for pronunciation. I am making an extra effort on that. I have read somwhere that if you feel ridiculus trying to achieve an accent, then you are in a good path. Haha, I've spent so many hours feeling ridiculous as I try to get my mouth to make proper French sounds. For me, recording myself and listening to the recordings repeatedly has been the best way to "get over" feeling awkward about making the sounds (and also very important, it lets other people assess my accent). Hey, good luck with your languages! I also suffer from/enjoy (depending on the point of view) language wanderlust: I managed to stick to a short list of languages for the time being, but lots of others are sooo tempting.
Michel Thomas is great for French grammar and, generally, speaking in French. Good luck with it, if you find some time between German and Russian :). 2 persons have voted this message useful | |||

Thank you for the encouragement.
In fact, I just finished the 3 first lessons of Pimsleur french, without thinking much about it. Of course I am past beginner, but the pronunciation and the speaking fluency will be improved if I follow this path. So, so far I have three languages worth of Pimsleur to complete, plus writing material for German and russian and a challenge for french. Different focus on each language, as I am at different levels. This forum is addictive. I haven't been so enthusiastic in ages. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I just finished the 3rd lesson of french in action, and it's both fast and helpful. I think I might follow french in action for rembemering my french, and continue with the russian and German already!

Major change in my strategie. I am starting over with russian, but with assimil. After reading so many things on this forum, I decided it was the best way to go.
