Would it be appropriate to have a "Learning Tools" heading, as distinct from the
"Learning Techniques"?
for example, SRS is a technique, but ANKI is a tool for using that technique.
There is some overlap of course (which could be satisfied by cross-links where
appropriate.
I'd been thinking of trying to put something in about use of Audacity, which is a tool,
and not a technique; it can be used with several techniques.
...
(I later noticed there was a tools Category; I still think a tools Heading might be
useful).

Yes, it would be totally appropriate.

In the other thread, we're using Learner FAQ page as a central access point for all the "Advice Center" questions. Once we fill this in a bit more, the moderators can make it sticky link at the top of the Advice Center.
At this point, we have a lot of good questions but not enough answers. But things are improving rapidly! |

Given that most beginners post their questions to general discussion, it should be a sticky thread there as well. along with an explanation that newbie questions should be posted to advice center.

I think there should be a sticky "WIKIA" thread on the top of all the subforums!

An idea for a few lists, which I can start but which I cannot sufficiently cover just by myself:
Movies worthy of seeing (that would be the more helpful for the smaller languages)
sorted by original language but with info on good quality dubbings
Separate list of TV shows
Music bands and musicians
Perhaps books which are a good starting point or a must if you want to enter the target language's culture
of course we can't strive for covering the whole culture, the more when it comes to huge languages like Spanish, but learners often don't know where to begin both from the point of view of accessible language and other qualities such as our favourite genres.

And of course, we could (and probably should) sort them by the level at which approximately they start being accessible.
If you think those would be useful, I am soo looking forward to them. There have been nice lists on the forums in past but it is difficult to search for them.

Waiting impatiently for the grammar guide. Surprisingly, there is no serious help on the internet. (Or maybe I just haven't found it)

Well, if procrastination hits again tonight (it is quite likely despite my desperation and troubles ahead of me), I shall start it :-)
