I'm not sure what is involved with being part of a team, but I'd probably be interested in one for Mandarin or French.

On a team we read each other’s logs and support one another throughout the year. Reading all the team logs can be time consuming, but it can also be very rewarding because the year is long and there are always those times when we all need a little nudge to keep going with our target language. Not only that, but if you’re new to the language (like me) there are other members who have been studying longer and it’s nice to indirectly benefit from their experience.

There's also a team thread where we introduce eachother and rally together:
Team Crane Thread is an example. They did an awesome job with their monthly challenges this past year.

I would like to sign up for Russian again this year, and my goal would be to go from A2 to B1. I will
presumably also want to improve my German and Italian, and maintain French, Spanish and English plus
sniffing out Uzbek.

I think I would only like to sign up for a single team (at least for the time being) and I cannot head a team this
year. It has been a fantastic experience, and I think we have been a great team, but I am unable to give all I
have this year, and then it is better to get some "fresh blood" in.

I am however hoping that Josquin could be persuaded to head the Russian team. He has been a great team
mate, and I think he could do a great job as a leader, as he is very focused, positive and hard working.
Josquin, could you be persuaded into taking over the reigns? :-)

And speaking of team leaders, does anyone want to lead the Korean team or should I do it?

Last year didn't go as planned, and I did not post much after a few months because of
technical problems (ie the user is technologically stupid).

My languages and goals:

Russian: Aiming for C1, ideally. I'm not certain of my current level though.

Finnish: Currently at about A1, just above A0. Goal: A2-early B1.

An undecided 3rd language, current contenders are Italian, Spanish, German, and Czech.
At 0 in all of them.

Not a TAC language, but a short term thing. I'm aiming for A2 in Icelandic, or at least
travel vocabulary knowledge by February. I don't anticipate it being a long-term
project.

I think I have enough of my plate with four languages right now so I'll keep the same combo I had in 2013: Spanish, German, French, Swedish (and maybe I will also do a better job at keeping my on-line log as up-to-date as my off-line one :P).

• Spanish > current level is C1/C2 in comprehension, B2/C1 in writing and speaking so I aim to improve the latter and keep up the former;
• German > will probably be my main focus, together with Spanish. I'm between a B1/B2 now so I aim for a solid B2 at least, hopefully C1 (I may spend some months in Germany so that could help);
• French > current level is probably around B1 in comprehension but much lower in the other two areas, I'd say around A1/A2 so I want to even things out a bit;
• Swedish > no specific level set for now, I only plan to keep studying the language regularly.

Also, I'd be very happy to be godmother/guardian angel for my native language, Italian :)

I think I’ll join in again. I’d like to be part of the new Swedish/Scandinavian team (Swedish A2 aiming for a solid B1).

I’m not sure what other languages I’ll pursue next year but if the huge drop-out rates from my teams this year are anything to go by, I imagine it will be necessary to sign up for at least a couple of teams to be certain you’ll have enough teammates to last the entire year.

@Cavesa
Would it be a huge problem if I wait until later this December (when I hope my plans will be clearer) before I commit to another language for the TAC? I don’t want to make your organizational work unnecessarily difficult.

By the way, thanks for taking up the task of opening and maintaining this thread.

I'll sign up and join the Korean team.

Korean: B2-ish ---> C1-ish
Japanese: B1-ish ----> B2-ish
Chinese: A1-ish ----> B1-ish
