Don't know if there will be a Scandinavian team but I would love to be a part of it
again. I won't be VERY active with posting but i'll update my log every now & then. My
goal is to push my Swedish to fluency in 2014.

I can also help the new Swedish students with new sources etc. ^^

And g-bod, I hope you won't be offended by my invitation either! people like you are needed in the team. You're an experienced and serious learner, and you would be very, very welcome :)

I'm certainly not offended, but I'm not sure if I would fit in with the ethos of learning your first language to fluency. Japanese is my most advanced language, but at the moment I simply don't want to put in the effort it would take to get to an advanced (ie. professional) level. I can already do everything I want to do in the language, I just can't upgrade it to "speaks" on here because I'm still terrified of business Japanese!

I've reached a point where I simply can't go on without getting to an intermediate level in German, which is why it is my priority language for 2014. But I don't want to rule out the option of working on my French - it would be a waste not to, now I've learned to love it again.

That's offtopic but many of us are terrified of business L1 or business English (which can be otherwise great). I think it's perfectly okay for you to list it as basic fluency :-)

I'm speaking for Team ONE.
The most important principle of this team is the studying of one language.
It can also mean finally getting ONE language to fluency. If we look at kujichagulia, sometimes it takes some dabbling on the side to stay motivated. (speaking of that, kuji, if you are reading this you are welcome!) And if someone can learn multiple languages at the same time, all power to them.

Hello, Serpent! Thank you for thinking of me! I am reading this, and I'm thankful for the welcome. :)

I'm definitely going to join TAC 2014, but as for Team ONE... I think it is a great idea, but according to the original criteria I don't think I would be a good candidate for it. Unless I find a way to maintain my A1/A2-ish Portuguese, I don't think I can focus only on Japanese (as much as I would love to!).

That said, I would be interested in joining a Japanese team and a Portuguese team. Here are my 2014 goals:

Japanese
LEVEL: Somewhere in B1 (maybe high-B1? Not so sure)
GOAL: To make it to B2

Portuguese
LEVEL: A1 or A2 (A1.5?)
GOAL: If not A2 yet, then get to A2. Otherwise, get close to B1.

Actually, I'm also going to do something with Swedish, plus my English would be a constant point for improvement, so if you have vague plans about another language - I don't think it will be really meaningful.
I really want to make some kind of a circle in Team ONE, based on exchange of learning experience. So you know what to do next :)

Well, in that case... why not?

I will be doing TAC 2014, if only because I need to redeem myself after my very poor showing this year.

The main focus languages:
Afrikaans, Spanish - Maybe I used to be at somewhere around A2/B1 level in reading, writing and speaking these languages but that was a couple of years ago, and I'm sure some rust has set in.

Swedish, Italian - On a good day I might be at A2 in these languages but I doubt it more likely I am a low A1. Besides that, A2 is way too low.

Finnish - I am confident of my ability to annoy telemarketers by saying, "Hei, anteeksi mutta en ymmärrä. Puhutko suomea?" (translated to English "Hi, I'm sorry but I don't understand. Do you speak Finnish?")I've supposedly been learning this language since 2009 and my current level is embarrassingly poor.

Hungarian - Just started this one but I can already annoy telemarketers by saying random words.

Official dabbling languages:
Polish, Hindi,Thai I will seriously learn these languages too although they are lower priorities right now, but I actually have this category because I really need to control my language wanderlust.

EDIT: I corrected a mistake in Finnish which proves how badly I write that language.

Oh, and I forgot to mention anything about teams. This year I have been a part of Team Viking (Scandinavian languages), Team Nebun (Romance/Slavic languages) and Team *jäŋe/*ledús (Uralic and Balto-Slavonic languages) and I definitely would like to be a member of Team *jäŋe/*ledús, and any other teams with people who share at least one language with me, for 2014
